Her name is Olivia, but "Liv" to her friends. She loves to walk at night in the fall. The crisp air. the smell of the forthcoming season. The anticipation of the holidays around the corner. Both in sweet celebration and fear of dealing with her family. She hasn't been the most beloved of her two brothers and other sister. She took a road less traveled. Pursuing her love than what they considered a "real" profession. She would have never have been happy as a lawyer or a secretary. She would not have loved the schools and the engineering degrees. It's been hard at times, but she doesn't hate herself for what she does. But she misses her fiance. He loved it all too. The freedom of time, the exhilaration of a success. Being in front of a crowd. Being behind the keyboard. Making those connections. Maybe someday she'll find someone to share her passion with again...

Homework #6: Back to Basics
I've certainly missed the Dawn Papuga Homework Assignments.
WTF Was I Thinking Video: Dicktoad Sweetass
Consider this a makeup for Saturday's NoBloPoMo. Things were pretty crazy with the IWC gig and such...
I might be the biggest Dicktoad Sweetass fan. This is one of the reasons why.

- Filmed in Geneva on the Lake, OH while we were up for a CRAP show.
- "Thumbtacks dipped in SARS"
- I love that Dicktoad has an identity crisis with both Remedy and Chad the Shad...

Friday5: Stuff I Do.
- What usually marks the middle of your day?
Typically, sitting at lunch watching some videos online that aren't training related. - From whom (or to whom) was your most recent middle-of-the-night phone call?
Just people that don't know what number they dialed. - On what social, political, economic, or moral issue are you in the middle of the road?
Religion. Seriously, let these people pray to whoever they want to, no matter if I disagree or not. Wasn't that the point of this country? - How likely are you to give someone your middle finger?
Depends on the setting, and my anger. It comes more often in the car. Maybe there's a sense of protection there. - When were you last caught in the middle of a disagreement that really had nothing to do with you?
It happens far less now that I just step away from conflict. I used to be the one to help everyone with their problems, until their problems started overwhelming me. There's some relationship stuff that comes up here an there that, thankfully, my friends know enough to keep me out of.
Who Else is Friday 5-ing? (You know you want to join us…)
*As always, the Friday 5 questions were taken from Friday5.org. If you join the fun, be sure to let me know so I can add you to the link list! I Remember my first job...
I remember not getting a job until I was 18 so I didn't have to bother with a permit (aside from that farm work I did for a bit...)
I remember my sister getting me a job as a bus boy at the country club after my birthday
I remember bussing large trays up and down two flights of stairs every night
I remember fearing the rush of a Friday night
I remember some laid back Sundays
I remember being bossed around by my sister a LOT
I remember Kurt and his crazy antics
I remember being introduced to some kid he called "Chachi" that never went away
I remember hanging with the smokers behind the kitchen when I had some extra moments
I remember drunken rich people
I remember the "pillars" of my community in moments of drunken debauchery
I remember the constant conflict of the members in their mini-democracy
I remember being amazed at what they would spend for a night on the town
I remember a constant conflict with the kitchen
I remember some awesome free food
I remember leaving of my own volition when I went to school
I remember my friends getting jobs there
I remember some of them letting me down
I remember still never playing any golf
I remember driving by when it wasn't a public gold course like it is now

The Rebound Prez?
Well, it's over. Obama is the President Elect. It's historic in his race and the breakthrough for race barriers. (sorry Cindy, I used the word)
Considering some of the unflattering, and embarrassing words I'd endured hearing from some in laws I'm not even sure how I'm related to so many months ago. This had made up my mind to not raise my hopes. I was surprised to see a black president this "soon" in my eyes. All of the bullshit you see from day to day of intolerance all over seemed to still be the norm in a country that struck down civil injustices years ago in the law. I was convinced that this would prove whether this country was still as racist as I suspected it was.
In 2004, there was a large groundswell of youth voters that were tired of what they were seeing. The numbers seemed to be up, and in support of some "change" in guard. But Kerry wasn't the strong candidate to really make the difference to make people truly care. This time, those numbers appear to be shattering records.
So what happened? I'd imagine the same things I noticed.
And keep in mind, I still hold my distrust in most things political instilled upon me by my father, so take this with a grain of salt, as I take this whole situation.
Obama was the right guy with the right words in the right way. After 8 years of a guy with marbles in his mouth I could just feel was lieing through his teeth. In the two major elections I have experienced since becoming of legal age, this is the first one I didn't feel screwed either way (not just anti-bush, but the lackluster Democrat selections provided to us). While we all hung our heads with more of the same, bureaucratic bullshit the last 8 years, Obama provided something new that turned our heads. Whether you were for him or against him, it seemed all were strongly one or the other. And time will tell whether he's just another lieing snake like all the rest, and it will be transparent very soon, I feel Obama is better than the guy who has done a 180 in the last 8 years, who claims "Maverick" based on his past when he's become "malaise" in his present, looking forward. Bluntly, I'm tired of an old white guy who obviously doesn't really give a shit. Obama is at least pretending to care (and hopefully meaning it).
Florida, Arizona, and Massachusetts, from what I understand, all voted down pro gay rights, at this point.
Well there you have it. That's the political blow off. Sorgatron '08 is done. Stoke Monkey '08 is done. I'm done. We have a president I don't feel shitty about on day 1, and I'm canceling my prospects to move to Canada, for the moment (though I love ya, great white north). And I've afforded myself the chance to piss some people off like others.
Can we all stop being politically ignorant now and move the fuck on? Blow it off now, folks.

Can Has President yet?
It's less than 24 hours before the polls close in Pennsylvania. I've been sick and ready to end all of this political BS for well over a few weeks now.

I've made my fun, and battled simian men, even picked a former World Champion as my Vice President. It's been a blast the last 6 months or so getting political on all of my blogs. But it's time to be serious.
Tomorrow, we pick the guy who represents this country. The guy the other countries look at as our leader. The guy that is there to make us feel good, or take the brunt of our anger over this country. The guy with maybe most unenviable job in the world. But remember, we hired this guy tomorrow. Whichever it is. If you don't vote, you don't have ANY right to bitch about him, or the other guy, should he win, for the next 4 years. I missed the 2000 election. And in 2004, I made sure I had 4 years to complain loud and proud that I voted for the other guy.
Today, I felt the pinch that this country was in. As these two jackasses are posturing and making everyone try to feel better about them than the other guy, people are losing jobs. Two were lost where I work, but it's a result of MASS cuts at our clients' facilities. Because someone dropped the damn ball a few weeks ago. Because no one has kept the greed in check that put us in this situation. So now I have to spend the sleepless nights wondering how I'm going to make up for the help I don't have, and wonder what my friends I used to work with will do with themselves now. And wonder what the hell I am going to do next.
I mentioned several months that I was hoping to become fairly political, and increasingly, politically angry. Ironic that one day from the election, I'm politically pissed off. Make a damn change already!
What does Sorg think? I'm done with old fogies in power... I'm voting anti-incumbents tomorrow...
