Did anyone get the number of that Big Y....

So. Went to the Blaze show tonight. I honestly had minor expectations for it, but any chance to hang out with the Juggalos is always a reason to get out of the house. We could go to a ballet together and it would be a good time. And look weird, too...all that facepaint. All that spandex. It'd be like a wrestling match from the early 90's.

Anyways, the show at hand. Got there and ran into soem familiar faces in Insane Eric, Big Daddy Shit and Big Y, amongst others. Also ran into Supersize from our affiliate, GZNinjaz.net (the guys we link to for message boarding) The main acts got up, starting with Psycho Jesus. I dug it, as far as horrorcore music goes, just really low key. But worth a look, nonetheless. Talked to both him and his hype man about doing some interviews in the future. Next up was Grave Plott. I hadn't kept up much on news of who was on this tour, and realized that was Killa C, who I interviewed a few months ago, and he cohort, the Liquid Assassin. Some great stuff, and finally got the crowd moving three groups in. Their set was sick, and I can't wait to see what their relationship with Strange Music brings us.

And of course Blaze was up last. This just felt like a stronger set this time. (or just because I just left during the slow songs for a water and piss break). But he started out with some 1 Less G shit, rolling into Colton, went for a piss break and let the ROC do some songs, and ended out the set pretty strong. Way better, and much better crowd than last time Blaze headlined in Pittsburgh. I haven't had the chance to rock in a mosh pit like that for a while.

Then it happened. The Big Y got into the pit. I haven't seen this for a while. This dude's like two inches taller than me, and just thicker. So after he kills half the kids in there, I go at it with him one on one. I get knocked back a bit, my back to the stage, gearing up to run at him again. Then it happened.

For some reason, I saw a sweater/hoodie or something on the ground out of the corner of my eye. In a split second I thought "I should pick that up. It belongs to someone. It might be mine, actually (my hoodie was tied around my waiste)." Well, I reached down to grab it. And neglected to remember Big Y was still coming at me. The top of my head connected with his chest and knocked me flat on my ass. It took a second for me to get back up. But for some reason, I kept pointing at the sweater that had bamboozled me. But I got up, picked it up, yelled "I was trying to be nice" and threw the damn thing in the crowd. I'm sure it was a hell of a sight.

And now, I'm going to ice my head.

Mayhem on NYPost.com Video.

Just a quick video. At the beginning you can catch some of the Wrestling Mayhem Show crew in the crowd shot. Especially Chad the Shad as Edge. The rest of the video is interesting, still.

Mayhem Takes Manhattan Day 2

Well, it's been day 2, and I didn't know if could top the first. We got up rather late, of course, and got an early afternoon start, hitting up some targets such as Central Park, Rockefeller Center, the NBC, Nintendo, and NHL stores, and of course, FAO Swartz. We were walking through Rockefeller when we noticed several NYPD officers with helmets, automatic weapons, and a dog. Everyone seemed to be fine within the J. Crews they were posted outside of. Of course Doc Remedy went over and tried to get the four hourseman pose from a few of them, like we did at FAO Swartz, and Times Square. We walked through Times Square once again on our way to Madison Square Garden.

We got there and what a difference. This is the damn ?New York crowd. It was pandemonium to get in. Not so much a line, but just a mass of people looking to get in a narrowing corridor. We got to our seats, literally the second seat from the top of the arena (to the left of the main entrance) and were still amazing seats, especially for the Rumble. We got to see everything from that angle going on in the ring. And of course, we were treated to the return of John Cena who got the surprise win. (but we'll get into that on the show) The New York wrestling crowd is amazing. The resounding anti-Cena chants. The "You can't wrestle" chants to Khali. Edge being completely over during his title match against Rey Mysterio (was was told by a natice that New Yorkers generally hate Mexicans, it seems)

After the show ended, we were hanging back in our seats, and much of our crew came to verbal blows with a fan who was anti fan. Somehow, he called him a paper champion, in which Mad Mike started flipping on the "5 moves of doom" concept and called him a "paper fan", followed by Chachi pretty much calling him one of Orton's pubic hairs. Great stuff.

But the icing was on our way out. We made it to what was sort of the main concourse of the Garden. We stopped to collect ourselves and heard the resounding "Cena Sucks" chants. Mad Mike was trying to put over Chad with shouting "Hey, is that Edge?" randomly. But he had a stroke of genius here. We started chanting "Edge! Edge" and pointing at Chad. People started following along. Then Remedy and Mad Mike put Chad up on their shoulders for all to see. This incited several instances of chanting, pictures with fans, and a lot of damn fun. And, of course, we took it to the streets before boarding the subway.

We made the ride back to the Bronx and hit up the local bar again, in which Chad and Chachi proceed to get hammered. But that's for the special episode we did to listen to.

Overall, it was an amazing weekend. I haven't had a chance to just hang out and completely let loose like this in far too long. Especially with some long time good friends like this. The majority of our crew wants to live in New York, and we're already discussing going back in the Summer for a visit when it's warm and catch what we missed this time around.

A huge thanks to Mad Mike. The first fan to let us into their humble abode and show us what the Big Apple was about.

Mayhem Takes Manhattan Day 1

Well. I'm in New York. And I'm not as scared as I thought I'd be. Law & Order lied to me.

We started off heading east, but were stilted by an unfortunate speeding stop, in which the cop wrote "Def. not obeying speed limit". So after that small snag, we got going and ventured across the great commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Then the stinky state of Newark. Chad spotted a billboard that said "Stop the Murders". We took Jim's twitter advice and did not stop for anything until we crossed the river.

After taking an inadvertent scenic tour of the Bronx, we chilled for a minute at Mad Mike's and headed out to see what New York looked like at night. We walked along Central Park (seeing the buildings from Cloverfield that were leaning on eachother), the fabled Apple Store with it's glass elevator, Rockefeller Center, and finally, Times Square. Chachi bought a fake watch, we scoped Toys R Us, grabbed a bite at the Broadway McDonald's, and rode the train back to Brother Jimmy's.

Brother Jimmy's was a pretty typical college bar from the looks of things. But then you pick up the fish bowl. We don't know what it is, but damn was it good. And the whole crew got them, with our little Gators from the bowls to show for it. It was fantastic. So random mirth happened, we got some NY Pizza at 2 in the morning. But no, my friends. Bars don't close at 2 AM like in the good ol' commonwealth. We ended up taking the train back to the Bronx and hit another bar right around the corner from the Mad One's place till 4 AM. Amazing. I passed out from a massive headache from the cold, as some girls played some Guitar Hero, and it's a night at 5:30 in the morning. Amazing.

Why I love to Wrestle.

This evening, I attended a bit of what they call a "wrestling party" with the RWF crew. Basically, someone has access to a ring and gets all of the enthusiasts like us together and puts together a small show for our own enjoyment. Well it dawned on me tonight why I love doing these things so much.

I miss drama club.

Ok, it wasn't really a club that I was in. It was just volunteering for some plays. I really did three in my two year tenure at Greenville, who really did have a form of drama department, and an actual auditorium. Not just a gym with a stage like Jamestown had. But I enjoyed all my roles, although small. My bit parts holding a guitar for the main guy, and as the bartender who ends up in a barbershop quartet in Bye Bye Birdie. The solemn Grandpa in Goodbye to the Clown, and henchman who takes a bump after being kicked in the face by a "little girl" in Pink Panther Strikes Back.

So wrestling is a chance to get out there and play a character. But more interactive. I have my role to play. But its looser how I can choose to present it. I can react to the crowd, positively or negatively. Something goes wrong, I adlib along with how my character goes. Like missing the second rope and blaming the "crappy ring". From the selling of hits and nut shots, to trying to come across as a threat to the opposition. I had more fun on the outside of our buddies, the Weekly Features were wrestling in a four way tag match. We sort of serve as the "invading faction" so we all come out to support our guys. Keep things "fair". And reacting to the match and chasing the opposing managers down for attempting to pull some shady moves.

*sigh* A good time.

Look out New York!

It's Friday. Lunch Time. and this time tomorrow, I will be en route, along with my Mayhem Show corhorts, on our way to big, bad New York City.

Back in the beginning of December, fan of the show, Mad Mike visited us for the weekend, stayed with Doc Remedy and Chad the Shad, and attended the two night IWC celebration with us. In turn, we were invited up to see the Royal Rumble, the favorite pay per view of the year, in some cases behind WrestleMania, at the mecca itself, Madison Square Garden.

Ok, so we're just getting nose bleeds, but that doesn't matter much. It's just being there in that legendary place. Site of Wrestlemania 1, 10, and 20. The hometown arena of WWF back in the day as it started to become national. As it kicked off the Rock n' Wrestling Connection back in the 80's. To be in the same building that all of those legends that even predate Bruno Sammartino's run at the top. And to get to go there with a group of friends that all appreciate this as much as I do.

Look out. This weekend the Mayhem Takes Manhattan.
