WMS 99: The Echo Effect and Whitney Peyton Interview

HEAR! The sounds of Sorg going slowly crazy as his impromptu Podcast recording setup sets off an echo in his headphones, slowly driving him mad.

Part 1 We cover RAW, American Gladiators, and Terminator? Also attempt to talk a little bit about local indy wrestling and in no way doing it justice....

Part 2
We hit fan mail and VoiceMail and and go more insane, and get a visit from George. Yes. George.

This is Episode 99 for Tuesday, January January 15, 2008. You can get the episode here on Talkshoe, subscribe, and as always, stay tuned to www.Wrestling Mayhem Show.com for the latest!

Meet George

Let me tell you about George. The nicest damn person you'll ever met. This guy is so nice, you won't believe he's real. And I think he's very disarming to people, especially here in the city, when he visits.

This is the type of guy who will walk down the street and say "how are you doing today" to anyone he passes that looks like they're breathing. We were in Walmart killing time, and he started into a conversation with some stranger about the TVs in electronics. And this was a guy that was a little "out there" himself that most people I know would just look the other way.

He had gone out to the car as we were checking out, and we realized he didn't have the key. I head out as Missy and her mother were checking out to not see him by the car waiting, but a rather a quick scan of the lot revealed George bent over an open car hood, trying to help somebody jump their car. So I head over and see what is going on. A guy was already there helping, jumper cables and all, and it still wasn't working. They of course determine maybe a car with a bit more power might help, so I bring over our own SUV. During this process, in casual talk, the guy mentions that he's stationed here in the military, just back from Iraq. George stops what he's doing in looking at the engine, and shakes the guy's hand and thanks him for everything he's done for the country.

And it is always interesting to see him act like this in the city setting when they visit. It's one thing out where they are at in the Appalachia of Western New York, where people tend to be a bit more friendly, but it doesn't seem to be expected much around here. Maybe everybody should take some notes.

Macintosh Woes

Michael D Sorg Sorgatron ok, I get that owning an Mac and working on one everyday is different now...

Michael D Sorg Sorgatron It's like having kids vs borrowing kids...

Yeah. It was kind of like that.

So, like a good little technophile, I bought Windows XP Media Center OEM. Yes. I bought Windows that didn't come preinstalled. There go my scruples, I know. But I figured why not. Lets get going with a new, legit path with this new iMac. (And my awesome mass lisence copy of XP wasn't "Service Pack 2" so i couldn't use it. Ugh.) So I start installing (after a solving the disk error conundrum, and before that, doing a fresh install of Leapord, as upgrade installs blows Steve Jobs goat farm).

Chuggin along. "Insert disc 2" Ok. Wait. Where's the eject!? So no eject (don't even see a manual eject on this thing) and the button only works in OSX. So after much tinkering, I think I figure it out. Let it "fail out" , restart, and hold both Option and the mouse button to 1) pick my windows install (which will auto load back into setup) and 2) eject the disc to change to the last one needed. And shit. That actually worked.

It's sad I have to hack the system to accomplish something legit. Now tonight I play some Half Life 2 on this thing...

New Blood on WPAJ

Well, there's been a pretty good revolving door of members at WesternPAJuggalos.com. People volunteer, then other things come up (life, kids, jobs, schools) and they can't do it anymore. No problem, that's life.

I posted that Help Wanted not even a week ago. And this is the response of people willing to help out. Representing all around the greater Pittsburgh area. I've been feeling good about this move. Several of those faces have already expressed some ideas they want to experiment with for their corner of the site.

Thank you for proving this site still matters to people out there, ninjas. And I'll be keeping it going for a good long time.

American Gladiators.

Well, in another example of my childhood being resold to me, American Gladiators was relaunched tonight. But does it justice? Or is this another childhood memory raped?

the presentation is my problem. Sure, everything looks slick, cool, big water, and fucking fire! But can you please give me more than a half second shot to enjoy it? The editing on this show is almost epilepsy inducing.

Ali and Hogan do a serviceable job of interviewing the competitors. But the in game announcer is horrible. Bring back Larry Czonka!

I had a bit of a problem with the show, as I displayed during my twitters for the night.

Sorgatron Elder Statsman of AG? WHAT THE HELL! There's only one Elder Statesman...of Pittsburgh!!! 30 minutes ago from Tweetr Icon_star_empty Icon_trash

At least I don't have to hear about it after his loss this week.

Some other notes:

Wolf = The most picked on Gladiator. Unfortunately, a lot of his threats end up sounding a little homosexual.

Hellga = (yes, @cynthiacloskey pointed out the two "L's") Can you say Swiss Miss girl on steroids?

Mayhem = Nice to see a Gladiator representing my podcast. Too bad he can't keep on his own platform on the Joust. At least he got the final shot shoving that guy in the water after the fact.

Justice = A faux hawk? Really?

Crush = I think this is going to be the unanimous Mayhem Show fave babe of the show (Doc Remedy agrees so far)

And another episode tomorrow night? Hell Yeah. I hope the ratings keep up to continue the show (and they make some improvements to the presentation) but after the initial style-shock, It's not too bad.

Think there'll be another video game?
